To All,
It’s that time where we need to come together as one and experience a feature that is close to us, and rich in Military and world history alike. This feature I refer to is known as the U.S.S. Hornet, it has seen many revolutionary changes in its span of life, everything from WWII and fighting in this historic war, up too the splash down of the Apollo 11 and 12 Space Missions. Its history runs deep thru our traditions as Americans, and I for one am proud to be a guest on such a ship with such amazing roots. I hope you will all be along for the ride, as this promises to be one of the more fun endeavors of the Civil Air Patrols activities. It will be a great experience this over night journey aboard such a fantastic and well known vessel. I am putting a link so if you want you can see for your self the history and story behind this vessel that sits in our own backyard http://www.uss-hornet.org/groups/overnightgeneral/ .
The cost is a mere $60.00 dollars a head, and you will be provided Dinner and Breakfast aboard this vessel, as well, you will have a chance to go into the flight simulator, and sleep in the very racks our veterans of WWII did. Some say it might even be haunted (not to scare you).
Regardless this trip will be one to remember and to cherish as years to come, and maybe if this inaugural voyage has enough good feed back, and participants it will become an annual event.
Stipulates are as follows, for every six cadets we need one senior member. Second, the names and money need to all be turned in no later than 3 weeks prior to living aboard so to go you have to act in advance (collection of the money will be Starting now and running thru August 7th and a little bit later) (Make Checks payable to U.S.S. Hornet Overnight).
More Information to come regarding signing up.
Senior Member Project Officer: 2nd Lt McFarland, William Ness
